Move like you did pre-injury, pre-computer, pre-baby, pre-whatever
Your body adapts to challenges it faces, like getting stronger when its strength is challenged. Your body also creates compensatory postures and movement patterns to protect injuries, or make habitual postures less demanding, even if those adaptations cause new pain. Your structural bodywork series will unwind these compensatory patterns. It’s like going back in time.
Improve your resilience
Your structural bodywork series will focus on improving alignment and movement patterns, not necessarily posture. Research shows that postural deviations are not good predictors of future pain. In fact, most people have the same postural “deviations.” Focusing on alignment and movement will give you the physical resources to absorb the challenges life throws your way.
"I didn't know that was tender until you started poking it!"
Have you ever said that to your massage therapist before? We sure have. Often, the cause your painful or dysfunctional movement is lying hidden, sometimes close by, sometimes far away. Each session in your structural bodywork series has an agenda so we make sure to find those hidden gremlins. We'll never skip an important muscle or joint because we didn’t think it was important.
Become more aware of what your body is doing
Most people don’t know what their posture and movement feels like, so they don’t notice when it changes. Your structural bodywork series will help you regain that awareness. After your series, you’ll be able to notice yourself leaning to one side when you sit, shrugging your shoulder when you lift your arm to the side, or whatever funny habits you’ve accumulated over the years. Once you notice what you’re doing, you can start changing it.
